The municipality of Hjørring is a climate-friendly municipality, and they have signed an agreement with the Danish Society for Nature Conservation to reduce the municipality’s CO2 emissions by a minimum of two percent each year. In conjunction with this they have decided to install four of our Northern Air® HVLS ceiling fans in the Bagterp and Bjergby sports facilities. With our HVLS ceiling fans, Hjørring Municipality can save up to 25% in heat consumption and ensure a good indoor climate for their users.
At Hjoerring Municipality, the use of HVLS ceiling fans in sports facilities is something new. The first HVLS ceiling fan was installed for an internal energy project at the town hall back in 2016. Here, they received positive feedback from the employees on both room temperature and a good indoor climate.
“We approached this purely on the basis that this was to be an energy project. It turned out, before all contact with Nordicco, that we had an internal project at the town hall, a building with 10 meters to the ceiling. It was difficult to heat the room because the heat rose upwards and stayed right beneath the ceiling. Therefore, we tested the solution with HVLS ceiling fans which pushed the heat downwards and resulted in a completely different indoor environment.”
“Given the typical difficulties that come with heating up large facilities, the concept of destratification was of great interest to us. Being able to utilize the heat trapped under the ceiling in ways previously not possible, immediately made us much more interested in HVLS fans and furthering our collaboration with Nordicco.”
“Hjoerring municipality is part of the initiative Climate Municipalities, a cooperation between the Danish Society for Nature Conservation and a municipality, where we must reduce our energy consumption by a minimum of 2% per year. Here, the HVLS ceiling fans can be part of the solution”
An HVLS ceiling fan can work in two modes depending on the season:
Both modes creates a good indoor climate.
