At Goerlev Boarding school, a renowned, sports-focused educational institution in Denmark, 160 students attend their daily classes. The school’s large sports centre is frequently used, which means large temperature fluctuations and an indoor climate that is generally challenged.
As a means to solve this, they looked to Nordicco’s HVLS fan Northern Light®, ensuring not only for a better indoor climate, but also a substantially safer environment for the students due to its air disinfecting abilities.
Behind the installation is the Kalundborg-based company WERTHs EL.
After scrutinising the market for possible ventilation solutions, Goerlev Boarding School chose to hang two of Nordicco’s HVLS-fans in the sports centre.
“When you house 160 teenagers, things tend to get crazy at some point, so WERTHs EL calmed us when they showed that the fans can endure being hit by a ball or ten,” says Niels Skak Jensen as he also praises the fans’ user-friendly monitoring systems.
“I am certain that our janitor will get a better overview of the temperature in the sports centre and by that getting better possibilities of controlling and regulating the heat within,” he then continues:
“Our sports hall is heated using wood chips, and we spend around DKK 70,000 a year on heat, and I expect that with the new HVLS fans we will be able to reduce our heat consumption by up to 15 percent.”
“For a long time, we have struggled to ensure a good indoor climate in our sports hall. The sports centre often accommodates a lot of people, and that makes it difficult to control the temperature.”
