Campus Vejle is one of the region’s largest educational institutions. In everyday life, the school has 2,500 students in the post-secondary education/youth educations, a large number of course participants, and 360 employees. Campus Vejle is for you who want to study an HHX, an HF, EUX Business, EUD Business, VUC, practice e-sports, increase your knowledge in the form of a large number of courses or go the sport’s path at Campus Vejle Sports College.
“At Campus Vejle, it is our intention to create the best indoor climate and learning environment for our students and employees. That is precisely why we already have 37 large NORDICCO® ceiling fans installed in strategic locations”, points out Morten Weiss-Pedersen, Director of Campus Vejle.
Like many other educational institutions, Campus Vejle consists of both newly built buildings and older ones: “We have a building from 2007 that does not have built-in air conditioning, like all our other departments. And precisely to avoid installing a really costly solution that at the same time harms the environment, we agree to enter into a collaboration with Nordicco “, says Ole Kempf, head of building maintenance at Campus Vejle.
“In addition to improving our indoor climate, one of the main reasons why we choose the ceiling fans in preference to an air conditioner is the climate-friendly consideration we take. We already see that the ceiling fans’ electricity consumption is incredibly modest in relation to the value they create.”
Morten Weiss-Pedersen talks about their challenge with the heat in the past: “In our foyer, for example, the ceiling is really high. 10 to 12 meters to be more precise. This means that in the time before the ceiling fans, we did not notice any real effect when we turned on the heat in the foyer because it rises into the air.
After installing the NORDICCO® fans, we really enjoy the energy we heat up with, because the fan distributes the heat downwards in a very comfortable way. ”
Ole Kempf, head of building maintenance, adds: “And we already experience that our students are much more positive in terms of using the foyer for group work and to just be social due to the good heat distribution. We have several classrooms with direct entrance and exit to the foyer, and the students have so far not used the cozy lounge areas we have created due to drafts and cold. They do it now – and they are happy!
“Like in the foyer we have also had the same challenge in our sports facility, where after the installation of the ceiling fans we now experience the feeling that the heat is distributed much better in the facility, which means that the indoor climate has become much better.”
At Campus Vejle, the Northern Air® ceiling fans are installed so that they go out with the light and thus follow the school’s CTS system. The fans thus turn off when there are no students in a room. An installation that is a clear picture of the school’s awareness of minimizing their energy consumption.
“I’m from Jutland, so I’m always skeptical until proven otherwise, Ole Kempf smiles. So, when I was first introduced to the idea of using ceiling fans to create movement in the air, I am naturally reluctant – also in terms of whether they can create a feeling of cooling if we get such a hot summer as the one we had in 2018. But with the results, we have achieved so far, and with the optimism, the fans are met with among our students and employees, I am sure it will probably be good”, Ole Kempf concludes.
“In our foyer, for example, the ceiling is really high. 10 to 12 meters to be exact. This means that in the time before the ceiling fans, we did not notice any real effect when we turned on the heat in the foyer because it rises into the air.”
