With 450,000 annual guests and a staff of 120 employees, SlotssøBadet is one of Denmark’s largest swimming facilities. In addition to the swimming pool itself, SlotssøBadet also offers a wellness department and a fitness center.
SlotssøBadets big glass panels are the direct reason to the huge temperature variations and therefore, struggles with the indoor climate.
Thomas Deleuran Jørgensen, Operations Manager at SlotssøBadet, narrates: “When the sun during the summer period shines directly on the glass from 7:00 in the morning to 8:00 in the evening, it is no secret that it gets incredibly hot in the reception. Here the temperature is typically between 27 and 30 degrees.“
“We choose to have a ceiling fan from Nordicco installed in the reception because our employees in the reception area are challenged by the seasonal fluctuations in temperature that affect the indoor climate when the swimming pool is built with such large glass sections as it is“
Over time, Slotssøbadet has tested small air conditioners without success. One of their major challenges is that the reception area is both very large and very open. Furthermore, several adjoining rooms are attached to the reception area. There is no possibility to close off into these rooms and therefore, they must be cooled down on an equal footing with the reception, without employees and guests experience drafts from the cold and heat bridges created by the small air conditioners.
“To bring the heat to life, we now choose to obtain a quote for a ventilation and cooling system that can cool all cubic meters of air. A furiously expensive solution! The price of a quarter of a million kroner for the cheapest also means that we have to think about other solutions. And when we open our eyes to how a large ceiling fan from Nordicco can move large amounts of heavy and still-standing air without creating drafts, we are ready to try it out! But before we get a ceiling fan installed ourselves, we visit Campus Vejle to see for ourselves and hear how the fans have improved their indoor climate.” – Thomas Deleuran Jørgensen, Operations Manager at SlotssøBadet.
“Before we got the ceiling fan hung up, I think I should try it on my own body. Because will it really be able to create a better indoor climate and working environment for our employees at the reception?” Asks Thomas.
“The fact that we can control the intensity and speed of the ceiling fan themselves has been an important parameter for us in relation to air circulation. And although we have not yet tested its properties in high summer, we can already feel a significant improvement in the indoor climate. The air is no longer heavy in here – and I get only a positive response to it from our receptionists.”
“Although we have underfloor heating throughout the area, it can get chilly at the reception in the winter. Personally, I have actually experienced some fairly large fluctuations in temperature throughout the day – temperature fluctuations, which I think have been offset after we have taken the ceiling fan into use. I also receive far fewer emails that our employees think it’s cold at the reception – so all in all we are all very well satisfied with our ceiling fan,”
